Programs followed by ** require registration.  Story times no longer require registration.  However, you can still register in order to receive reminder emails.  Visit our online calendar to register or sign up for emails.

We strive to make programs accessible for everyone.  If your child needs extra support to attend a program, please let us know by emailing youthservices@ivpl.org.

Caregivers of children ages 9 and under must remain in the room during the program and caregivers of children ages 10-12 must remain in the library during the program

Preschool Programs

Stories, songs, and movement activities for children of all ages. Bring a lunch or snack (not required). Weather permitting, we will meet outside at the pavilion.  Otherwise, we will meet indoors.

Preschoolers and their families are invited to drop in the library to explore some self-directed activities designed to help develop the skills needed for kindergarten.  Most appropriate for ages 3-5 but younger siblings are also welcome.  No registration required.

1000 Books before Kindergarten Graduation

A celebration of all of the kids who graduated from the 1000 Books before Kindergarten program this year.  Each graduate will get a certificate and a book added to the collection with their name on it.  Did your child graduate this year?  Reach out to sheckleroconnor@ivpl.org no later than August 12.​

We provide the supplies, you provide the imagination.  Stop by the library to see what you can make from the supplies provided.  Creative fun for makers of all ages and abilities (adults too!).  No registration required.

 

Join us on July 21 for a special Maker Monday where we create some community art (see below).  Please check our online calendar and/or the library whiteboard for the location of this program.

Chess Beginner's Blitz Bash! (All ages)

Saturday, June 14 from 11 AM to 3 PM

We'll start at 11 am, and do 15 total rounds of 5 minute blitz in a Swiss format. Registration is required for all competitors.

Stop by the library to make some crafts to benefit the library and others in our community.  This month, we will be making flyers for our upcoming drive for Liz’s Birthday Closet.  Crafters of all ages and abilities are welcome.  No registration required.

 

Kit’s Interactive Theater Presents Mother Nature (Youth ages 4+)

Wednesday, June 18 at 7 PM

Get cast right into the show as a dancing fairy, fearless frog or happy hermit crab and help Mother Nature whimsically teach respect for northeast ecosystems.  Space is limited and registration opens June 4.  Registration link.

The Bubble, Comedy and Music Show: Reading Colors Your World (Youth of all ages)

Tuesday, July 1 at 6:30 PM

Presented by Turtle Dance Music.  Join us for a colorful “turtle-riffic” musical experience that is designed to engage children through songs about colors, movement activities, children’s stories about colors, and interactive music technology where colors make MUSIC. The show is crafted to be inclusive for all children, including children on the Autism Spectrum, and a great time for parents and caregivers.   Space is limited and registration opens June 17.  Registration link

Stop by the library to build with a variety of extra large building materials, such as big legos, cardboard bricks, and more!  This is especially good for Autistic children and/or anyone who prefers extra sensory input.  Youth of all ages are welcome.  No registration required.

Color Your World Community Art (All ages)

Stop by the library to make some colorful art using a variety of different materials.  In addition to individual art, we also invite you to  add some color to a mural that will be hung up in the Children's Room.  Weather permitting, we will add some color to the parking lot between the library and Telford Municipal Park using spray chalk.  Artists of all ages and abilities are welcome.

 

Family Book Bingo (Youth of all ages)

Thursday, August 7 at 7 PM

Stop by the library to play bingo for book sale bucks and/or tokens for the book vending machine.  Players of all ages and abilities are welcome.  Walk-ins are welcome but registration is recommended in order to guarantee we have enough bingo cards.  Space is limited and registration opens on Wednesday, July 23.  Registration link.

 

Hilarious Magic of Sam Sandler (Youth of all ages)

Experience the Magic, Comedy, and Inspiration of America’s only Full Time Deaf Illusionist.  Come to the library to enjoy a spectacular live show that will entertain, inspire wonder, and empower.  Space is limited and registration opens on July 31.  Registration link.

Stop by the library to meet up with other Pokemon fans to trade cards, talk about the game and the show, play the card game, and complete a craft or other activity.  The library has a small number of cards available to trade but participants are encouraged to bring their own decks.  (The Library is not responsible for lost or damaged cards).  No registration required.  Have Pokemon cards you no longer need?  Consider donating them to the library.

Independent readers are invited to come and read to a therapy dog.  Register in advance to get a guaranteed 10 minute time slot.  Depending on volunteer and dog availability, a small number of walk-in spaces may also be available.  Registration is required and starts 2 weeks before the date of the program.   Visit our online calendar to register.

EMU-Sing Outdoor Science Workshop (Fall Grades 3-6)

Friday, June 20 

10 AM to 1 PM 

Community Room and Outdoors (Weather permitting)

 

Ready for an adventure? Kids entering grades 3-6 can join the Environmental Mobile Unit (EMU) for some hands-on science at the library! Discover nature with high-tech tools on the science van.  Students will engage in science and engineering practices to develop an investigation of the grounds, identifying biotic and abiotic factors, microhabitats and connections to local watersheds.  Space is limited and registration opens June 1.

This project is a collaboration between The Montgomery County Library District and the Montgomery County Intermediate Unit 23, with funding from The Caroline Alexander Buck Foundation.

​Art Exploration: Scandinavia (Ages 6-12)

Wednesday, July 2 at 2 PM

​

Art is all around us - especially at the American Swedish Historical Museum! They’ll bring some of the Museum to the library as we learn about Scandinavian artists and folk art styles. Kids will have a chance to try out print-making, papercrafts, and other Scandinavian art forms in this activity program.  Space is limited and opens June 18.

NP Planetarium: Earth, Moon & Sun (Ages 7+)

Wednesday, July 23 at 7 PM

North Penn Planetarium 

​

This planetarium show explores the relationship between the Earth, Moon and Sun with the help of Coyote, an amusing character adapted from Native American oral traditions who has many misconceptions about our home planet and its most familiar neighbors. His confusion about the universe makes viewers think about how the Earth, Moon and Sun work together as a system. Native American stories are used throughout the show to help distinguish between myths and science. 

 

This program will be an hour long in a dark room, because of this the recommended age for attendance is 7 and up. Youth 15 and under must be accompanied by an adult during this program. 

​

We will be meeting at the North Penn High School's Planetarium (1340 S Valley Forge Rd, Lansdale, PA 19446)

$5 in advance per person. Cash only to be paid at the Reference Desk of IVPL. Space is limited, payment must be made to confirm your attendance. Registration closes on July 16 and payments are due at this time.

Pennsylvania Animals (Youth ages 6+)

Wednesday, July 30 at 7 PM

Special guests from Indian Run Environmental Education Center will be visiting with some of their live raptors and reptile friends.  Learn about Pennsylvania wildlife, including their role in the local ecosystems and ways we can protect them from threats.
