Programs followed by ** require registration.  Story times no longer require registration.  However, you can still register in order to receive reminder emails.  Visit our online calendar to register or sign up for emails.

We strive to make programs accessible for everyone.  If your child needs extra support to attend a program, please let us know by emailing youthservices@ivpl.org.

Caregivers of children ages 9 and under must remain in the room during the program and caregivers of children ages 10-12 must remain in the library during the program

Join Ms. Angela for a small group story time featuring a visual schedule, fidgets, interactive stories and other supports.  Registration is required and starts 2 weeks before the program.  Parents should plan to remain in the room but please register children only.  Most appropriate for developmental ages 3-5 but all ages welcome.

Stop by the library for some hands-on art exploration.  Together, we will share a story and a mindfulness moment.  Then, everyone (adults included) will be invited to create art based on a theme using the supplies provided.  Most appropriate for ages 3-8 but all ages are welcome.  

 

Crafts for a Cause: Getting Ready for Adventure

Stop by the library to help us get ready for summer.  Decorate our large banner, color a big poster, or draw something that makes you think “Adventure.”  Open to crafters of all ages and abilities.  No registration required.

School’s Out Movie: Raya and the Last Dragon

Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Raya and the Last Dragon travels to the fantasy world of Kumandra, where humans and dragons lived together in harmony long ago. But when an evil force threatened the land, the dragons sacrificed themselves to save humanity. Now, 500 years later, that same evil has returned and it’s up to a lone warrior, Raya, to track down the legendary last dragon to restore the fractured land and its divided people. However, along her journey, she’ll learn that it’ll take more than a dragon to save the world—it’s going to take trust and teamwork as well.

Delaware Valley University Students are visiting Indian Valley Public Library and bringing some friends with them. Spend the evening learning about different wildlife at the library by visiting different tables. This is a free event for all ages.

Beginner’s Chess

Learn how to play chess and hone your skills! All ages are welcome; however, adult supervision is required for players under 13.

Pokémon Meet-up Club (Ages 5-10)

Mondays at 4 PM

Stop by the library to meet up with other Pokémon fans to trade cards, talk about the game and the show, play the card game, and complete a craft or other activity.  The library has a small number of cards available to trade but participants are encouraged to bring their own decks.  (The Library is not responsible for lost or damaged cards).  No registration required.  Have Pokémon cards you no longer need?  Consider donating them to the library.

Supported STEAM Program (Ages 5-10)

Join us for a supported program for children who need smaller group sizes, fidgets, a sensory schedule and other supports.   Registration is required and starts 2 weeks before the program.  Adults should plan to stay in the room during the program, but please register children only.  March registration link.

Tinkering Club (Ages 5-10)

Stop by the library to complete our tinkering challenge using the materials provided.  Most appropriate elementary school but all ages welcome.

 

This program uses elements from Indian Valley Public Library’s Tinkering Kit.  The kit was funded by a Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services as administered by the Pennsylvania Department of Education’s Office of Commonwealth Libraries.

 

Junior Engineers (Ages 5 and up)

Registration is required and opens 2 weeks before the program

Independent readers are invited to come and read to a therapy dog.  Register in advance to get a guaranteed time slot.  Depending on volunteer and dog availability, a small number of walk-in spaces may also be available.  March Registration Link.

STEAM Saturday: Video Game Soundtrack Design   (Youth Ages 10+)

Saturday, May 4, 10:30 AM to 1 PM

Designing video game music involves composing and arranging audio tracks that dynamically enhance gameplay, evoking emotions, and immersing players in the virtual worlds through carefully crafted soundscapes and melodies.   This program was made possible by a PA Smart Grant administered by VGC USA.   Caregivers of children ages 10-12 must remain in the library during the program.  Registration is required and starts two weeks before the program. Tween Reading Club (Ages 10-12)

Let’s take a journey through the Dewey Decimal System. Read one book that can be found in the 600s section of the Dewey classification.  Then join us to share the title and your thoughts. Loved it? Tell us why we should read it. Disliked it? Tell us how the book could be better. Need some help finding a book? Ask a librarian for some recommendations.

STEAM Saturday: How to Podcast Like a Pro   (Youth Ages 10+)

Saturday, May 25, 10:30 AM to 1 PM

Starting a podcast involves creating audio content on a chosen topic, recording and editing episodes, and then distributing them to online platforms, allowing you to share your expertise, stories, or discussions with a global audience.  This program was made possible by a PA Smart Grant administered by VGC USA.   Caregivers of children ages 10-12 must remain in the library during the program.  Registration is required and starts two weeks before the program.
