Become a VolunTeen! 

Students ages 13 to 18 are invited to join us for various volunteer activities. If none of the activities below is a right fit, contact Nicole with an idea for an alternative volunteer project.

Sleeping Mat Project (All Ages)

Every Thursday from 10 am to 11:30 am

Weaving mats from plastic bags. Stay after to help clean up.

Spring Garden Clean-up (All Ages)

Saturday, April 20 from 10 AM to 12:30 PM

Indian Valley Public Library Educational Gardens will be conducting their Spring Garden Clean-up. Everyone is welcome to help. No registration required.

 

Crafts for a Cause: Getting Ready for Adventure (All Ages)

Tuesday, April 23 from 10 AM to 4 PM

Stop by the library to help us get ready for summer.  Decorate our large banner, color a big poster, or draw something that makes you think “Adventure.”  Open to crafters of all ages and abilities.  No registration required.

 

VolunTeen Service Club (Ages 13-18)

Wednesday, May 15 from 6 to 8 PM (Register)

Join us to complete projects and activities to support local and nationwide charities and organizations. For young people ages 13 and up. Contact Nicole at nhusbands@ivpl.org with questions.

Please note: This program may be canceled due to low registration.

Monday, April 22 from 4 to 5 PM

Tuesday, May 21 from 5 to 5:45 PM

Show up a little early to help the librarian set up and stay after to clean up this program. During the program, encourage and help younger builders with their creations.

Flexible Volunteer Opportunities 

Reversed Reading

Are you between the ages of 12 and 18? Recommend YA books to the adults in the community. Recommend any genre or format. Your recommendations may appear in a brochure and be used in future adult reading challenges. Each accepted response, you will earn either 1 hour of community service OR a token/coupon for the book vending machine. Submit your reversed reading recommendation. Submission Period Ends: Saturday, May 4, 2024

Taught by Teens Video Tutorials

Show off a talent or a skill by creating tutorials for the Taught by Teens playlist. You can use a book as a guide or create your own tutorial. Include a list of materials and step-by-step instructions.  If your face is in the video, have your parent/guardian fill out and sign the video release form (must download and print). If you don’t have the completed form, make sure only your hands are recorded. Please review the guidelines before you start recording.

Time: 1 hour to 1.5 hours per approved video

Write a review for a book for the IVPLTeens blog. Reviews have to be at least 200 words. Visit here for guidelines on how to write and submit a book review

Digital Content Creator

Help us achieve engagement by producing creative and compelling content for IVPL.

Time: 1 hour for every 5 posts that are approved

Sleeping Mat Finisher 

Are you handy with a crochet hook? After a sleeping mat has been removed from the loom, it needs some finishing touches. Take a mat home to weave in loose ends using a crochet hook. Contact Nicole at nhusbands@ivpl.org if you are interested in this volunteer opportunity. This task is not available all of the time.

Special Events Photography
