Catch the Reading Bug!

Read-to-Me Club 2008 at the Indian Valley Public Library

1. Children may register at the library or online beginning Monday, June 2, 2008.

2. The Read-to-Me Club is for preschool and kindergarten children.

3. Children may listen to as many books as they like. Use your Reading Record to count them by coloring (or marking) one symbol for each book. Stickers, puzzles, and treats will be ours after 25, 50, 75 or more books! Stop in the Children's Room to collect treats all summer long.

4. Plan to attend as many Read-to-Me programs as you wish. Programs are geared for young children. Parents are encouraged to join the fun.

5. Pick up your certificates between August 15 and 31.

Thursday, June 26 - 7:30pm: Bug magic

Kick off summer fun with Master Magician Eric Paul. Watch as invisible fireflies turn on a light bulb, silkworms magically fill their homes with yards of silk, and butterflies appear in an empty nest. A little magic will help you catch the Reading Bug.

Tuesday, July 1 - 6:30pm: Family Movie Night

Enjoy a family movie night at IVPL. Watch Creepy, Crawly Animals followed by Antz on our big screen. Bring a blanket and pillow and sit as close as you dare. Popcorn provided.

Monday, July 7 - Friday, July 11: Create a Critter Take and Make

Stop in the Children's Room to pick up everything you need to make a nifty craft at home this week. Take home some fun and some books to add to your reading count. Have you caught a Reading Bug yet?

Wednesday, July 16 - 11:00am: My, Oh My, The Ants March By

Join the Lunch Bunch for an outdoor picnic. Ants are NOT invited to our picnic, but they will surely come. Bring a blanket an enjoy your lunch. We will provide beverage and dessert. Enjoy some fun in the shade.

Friday, July 25 - 11:00am: The Hungry Caterpillar

Our little caterpillars are munching and crunching and they grow bigger every day. Come and learn about butterflies and create a butterfly to decorate your room.

Thursday, July 31 - 11:00am: Lady Bug Bingo

Enjoy a game time with friends and spot your favorite insects. Of course there are prizes!

Wednesday, August 6 - 11:00am: Miss Spider's Wedding

Miss Spider and Holley and getting married and you are invited to the wedding. Wear your finest duds and dancing shoes. What a wedding it will be!

Friday, August 15 - 7:30pm: Wrap-up and Release

All Read-to-Me Club, Summer Reading Club members and families are invited to finish the summer with a flourish. We will hear some exciting stories from Kristin Pedemonti in her program "The Bug's Life", and then release the butterflies we have raised.
