World War I Centenary

World War I Centenary

In August 2014, the world marks the 100th anniversary of the outbreak of the First World War, a war that set into motion many of the subsequent events of the 20th century.  We've created a bibliography that lists some of the books and dvds that the library owns, both fiction and non-fiction.

Also join us for the following events:

WWI Book Discussion:  On Thursday, June 19 at 7 pm, we will discuss Ernest Hemingway's A Farewell to Arms, which is his fictionalized story based on experiences that he had as an ambulance driver in Italy in World War I.

WWI film:  On Thursday, July 17 at 6:55 pm, join us as we watch a feature film that is loosely connected with Hemingway's novel and experiences.

Epic World War I Film: Sunday, July 27 from 1:05 pm - 4:45 pm. Watch this epic film on IVPL's big screen--experience dramatic desert landscapes and great music. Rated PG, 217 minutes.

Movie titles are posted in the library.
