The library serves the six communities of the Souderton Area School District:

Franconia, Lower Salford, Salford, Souderton, Telford, and Upper Salford, with a combined population of around 37,000.  IVPL is an independent member of the Montgomery County Library District.  As an Access PA participant, the library serves all Pennsylvania residents under the Access-PA program.  More than 30,000 individuals hold IVPL library cards.

The Library's Board of Trustees meets on the 3rd Thursday of each month at 7:30 a.m. in the Pennsylvania Room at the Library.  The Library Director, Linda Beck, and the staff of 38, work to carry forward IVPL's mission statement: "The library offers accessible resources in order to inform, enrich, and entertain persons of all ages."
